أول ما تخرجت من الجامعة كنت بطاليه طبعا لا شغله ولا مشغله قعدت تقريبا إسبوعين بالبيت ماكو شي ما تعبث فيه من الملل, غيرت غرفتي كلها لي الأبيض وبقت طاولة الأبجورة خشب قلت ألعب فيها وأصبغها اذا ضبطت ضبطت واذا ما ضبطت شريت طاوله ثانية بدالها… المهم دشيت يوتيوب ولقيت اكثر من طريقه حق تعتيق الخشب وهالطريقه كانت أسهلهم

كل الأغراض تحصلونها عند أيس هاردوير أو تروفاليو

This is a great technique for any wood project that you’d like to give the look of aged paint. Check out how I made it below.

Supplies:

(all the supplies are from Ace Hardware & Truevalue)
-wooden table (must be real wood not hardboard)- طاولة خشب طبيعي
-wood stain- صبغة الخشب
-white acrylic latex enamel paint (semi-gloss) – صبغ خشب أبيض أكرليك ربع لمعة
-petroleum jelly (Vaseline) – فازلين
-paint brush- فرشه للصبغ
-metal spatula- مادري شيسمونها بالعربي 😛
-sandpaper for wood –  ورق صنفرة للخشب
-paper towels or a rag- فوطه

The Technique:

الخطوة 1: نتأكد ان الخشب نظيف وخالي من الغبار

Step 1: make sure that your wood is clean and dust free

الخطوة 2: نستعمل صبغه الخشب الاساسيه باللون الي ودكم يبين تحت الصبغ الأبيض بعد ما تقشرونه, عن نفسي اخترت لون الخشب الطبيعي

Step 2: Stain the wood in whatever color you’d like to show through the top coat of paint. I used natural stain just to give it rich color.

(Different types of wood display the same stain differently, so make sure you consider that when selecting stain)

( درجة الصبغه أو لونها راح يفرق على حسب نوعيه الخشب الي تبون تستعملونه)

الخطوة 3: نحط فازلين على الخشب بالأماكن الي نبيها تتقشر بعدين ونركز على الزوايا أكثر شي وبالنص بشكل عشوائي

Step 3: Wipe a generous amount of Vaseline on any part of the wood you’d like to be distressed. I focused on the sides, and also wiped some randomly.

الخطوة 4: نصبغ الخشب بطبقه الصبغ الأبيض او اللون لي تبونه وننطره ينشف شوي ونرد نصبغه بطبقة ثانية

Step 4: Paint the board with two coats of paint .

(Don’t use primer – so the paint come off easily in the next step- ما راح نستعمل برايمر عشان الصبغ يتقشر بسهوله معانا)

الخطوة 5: بعد ما نترك الصبغ ينشف ساعه او ساعتين تقريبا نقدر نبلش نقشر الأماكن الي حطينا عليها فازلين وبعد ما نخلص تقشير نصنفر الخشب بورق الصنفره

Step 5: After the paint has cured for at least a few hours, you can begin scraping it with a metal spatula . I focused on the areas where I had put the Vaseline , and lightly scraped across the surface of the table.

After scraping the wood, I sanded some spots across the planks with a rough sandpaper.

Optional Step: Seal it with a matte polyurethane to avoid more peeling of the paint.

تقدرون تضيفون طبقه من البولي إيرثين يحمي الصبغ ويصير مثل طبقة عازلة بس عن نفسي ما استعملته لان كنت مفكره أغير اللون بعدين

وبجذي خلصنا الطاولة وصات جاهزة, أهم شي لا تنسون تلبسون كمام وانتوا تشتغلون لان الريحة قويه وخلو الطاوله يومين برا بالشمس عشان الريحه تروح  🙂
