Great TV for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Resurrected an Audio Video Stand, Denon AVR and some klipsch speakers from storage, setting it up in my home office wanting to dedicate the area to my vinyl collection. Thought the stand could use a mounted TV. Found this Sharp 42" on sale. After some calibration the picture really is great for the price. There are no smart features or WIFI, But I don't need any of these features for a TV in my office anyway. I picked up an Apple TV and using airplay I can stream from my Plex or Subsonic servers to watch video files or listen to my digital audio collection if needed. The only downside was the in-store customer service (Beaverton Tanasbourne location). When I walked up to the Audio / Video section at the best buy, a couple of these guys were making fun of their recent customers, talking trash about them behind their backs. They did not know I was standing there. I was kinda angry knowing that I wanted this TV and had to deal with these guys. Seriously if you hate your job find another.

Great Tv Guys
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got off of work and decided to stop by best buy and other retail stores to purchase a flatscreen I so desperately needed. Of course best buy was the first store I visited to see if I could buy a smaller tv, 32'(other brand) this I got this 42' sharp at a reasonably cheap price since it was open box and only missing the remote. The supervisor gave me a brand new remote from the store to make up for that. Anyway, it was very easy to assemble and very lightweight. The picture quality is amazing and so is the sound quality. Tv is perfect size!!

Great for the Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before buying this TV, I owned a Samsung 32" LCD. I planned on staying with Samsung and updating to one of their 40-42'' LED TVs, but after comparing them to brands of lower cost, I knew I was just buying into the name, thinnest (I don't mind a little thickness for a TV that I don't plan on mounting), and Smart TV function (I own a PS3 and Xbox One, so the Smart function would never get used.). I visited my local BestBuy to compare picture of Sharp and Samsung LED TVs. The only difference was price, both has get picture, so I went with the TV that I'm currently reviewing. The sound is average, but else would one expect for under $400.

No regrets
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.if you're anything like me, you spent hours comparing tvs, looking up reviews, and researching. unfortunately the amount of information about this sharp tv is very limited because this is a best buy-Sharp exclusive tv. but don't let that fool you, this is a sharp tv through and through. this is a 42in monstrosity that you can get for the price of a 39in from other brands. steal of a deal. no discernible input lag on my Xbox one which is all that I use this tv for. great picture quality. I am super paranoid and afflicted with intense buyers remorse but this tv won me over. at first I thought the picture was grainy but realized its dependent on the media type because bluray would APPEAR a little grainy due to the high details you see on peoples faces and scenes. but it is crisp and crystal clear in games. also the downward facing built in speaker is surprisingly good quality. before I set up my speakers I was pretty satisfied with the built in audio. you could wait til black Friday and try your luck. I couldn't wait. and I don't regret it one bit.

Q: Questiondo i need to connect an HDMI cable to get HD quality programming?
Asked by jan.
- A:Answer No, you do not need an HDMI cable to display HD quality programming. However, while component cables can provide HD quality programming, it will be limited to 1080i or 720p. This is not due to a limitation of the cable but a limitation of the RCA connectors. If you want to display a full 1080p picture, HDMI is the way to go.

Q: Questioncan this TV change wide screen to full screen viewingcan this TV change wide screen to full screen viewing. Many movies only come in wide screen.
Asked by agent bob.
- A:Answer Interesting question. The Sharp 42" HDTV has several display modes. These modes are: Normal, Wide, Cinema, Normal and Auto. Typically, the different modes are how you want to display a 4x3 picture on a 16x9 screen. If you are watching a movie with an aspect ratio higher than 16x9 (or 1.77:1) such as 1.85:1 or 2.39:1, there will be blacks bars shown at the top and bottom of the picture. I don't think the Sharp has any ability to display those higher aspect ratio movies without the black bars.

- A:Answer Yes, I've noticed this as well and there is no way to adjust it. I believe it is how they broadcast the HDTV stations.
